This has been a busy month for President Joe Biden beginning with meeting with a State Visit with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace. This trip included attending the 80th anniversary of D-Day at the memorial ceremonies, visiting the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Omaha Beach and the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery.

He delivered remarks at Pointe du Hoc, and held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the InterContential Paris Le Grand Hotel.

June 12-14, President Biden attended the G7 Summit at Borgo, Egnazia where he met with Italy’s Prime Minister Giogia Meloni, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Pope Francis.

It is important to fact check all comments made by President Joe Biden and the former President Donald Trump. Trump was recently found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business documents to affect the outcome of the 2016 Presidential Election. This makes the former President a felon who is currently unable to get a security clearance or visit 37 countries in the world, as pointed out by US Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) on June 4, 2024 in a hearing to the Republicans in the House Judiciary Oversight Committee.

Remember, Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said on June 4, 2024 in a hearing to the Republicans in the House Judiciary Oversight Committee:

My colleagues, none of this today that you are bringing makes sense. Your inconsistencies, your hypocrisy, your sycophancy, unless you are in a cult.

And guys, I’m starting to think you are in a cult. That is your right, but it is not your responsibility.

I promise you, that is not what your constituents would want.

So if you believe in state’s rights, except when a jury in that state convicts your nominee for president, you might be in a cult.

If you claim to back the blue but want to defund the police, when the police go to your nominee’s house to retrieve national security secrets, you might be in a cult.

If you’re supporting a guy whose felony convictions prevent him from getting a security clearance, you might be in a cult.

And if the guy you’re supporting for president has felony convictions that prevent him from going to

It is important to fact check politicians in these days when it is popular to pretend fake news is the same thing as accurate news, as if it is a matter of choosing a side to root for, with the same alliance as you have to your child’s sports team no matter what the truth is.

It matters when living in a Democratic Republic, which the United States of America is, that the following facts of truth and lies are highlighted from the June 27 Presidential Debate.

The following is written by Arden Farhi, Hunter Woodall, Jui Sarwate, Julia Ingram, Layla Ferris, Laura Doan, James LaPorta, Daniel KlaidmanAlexander Tin, Pete Villasmil, Sierra Sanders. It was updated on: June 28, 2024 / 9:46 AM EDT / CBS News

Here’s the fact check of some of the statements made by President Biden and former President Donald Trump during the first 2024 presidential debate, which took place in Atlanta on Thursday, June 27. The two tangled on topics including immigration, the economy, abortion and their respective records. Mr. Biden seemed to ramble during many of his responses.

CBS News covered the debate live as it happened

Trump claims “we had the greatest economy in the history of our country”: False

Trump: “We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. And we have never done so well. Every- everybody was amazed by it. Other countries were copying us.”

Details: Trump’s claim is false that during his presidency the U.S. had the greatest economy in the history of the country by many of the common metrics used to judge economic performance. The claim struggles when looking at GDP. If the 2020 pandemic is excluded, growth after inflation under Trump averaged 2.49%, according to figures from the World Bank. This is far from the GDP growth under Democratic President Bill Clinton of 3.88%, according to World Bank data. Including the time period after COVID spread, that average drops to 1.18%.

Trump’s claim also falls short when compared to historical figures. Growth between 1962 to 1966 ranged from 4.4% to 6.6%. In 1950 and 1951, GDP ranged between 8.7% and 8%.

Under Mr. Biden, annual GDP growth is averaging 3.4%, according to the Associated Press.

*An earlier version of this fact check misstated World Bank figures for growth after inflation under Trump at 2.65%, rather than 2.49%, and 1.45%, instead of 1.18%, and also rounded the growth number for Clinton. This has been updated.

Unemployment

Trump’s claim is also false even when evaluating the unemployment rate.  In February 2020, a month before the COVID pandemic affected the economy, the unemployment rate stood at 3.5% — which was the lowest since December 1969 — but not the lowest ever. When Trump’s term ended, the unemployment rate was 6.3%.

In 1953, the unemployment rate fell as low as 2.5%. Under Mr. Biden, the unemployment rate is 4%, according to the most recent data from May 2024.

In January 2023 and again in April 2023, the unemployment rate was 3.4%, lower than the best month during Trump’s term.

Stock market performance

On Jan. 19, 2021, the S&P 500-stock average closed at 67.8% above where it had been the day before Trump was inaugurated in 2017.

According to Investopediaat the end of President Barack Obama’s first term in office, the S&P closed 84.5% higher. Additionally the S&P gained 79% during President Bill Clinton’s first term, and 70% during President Dwight Eisenhower’s first term. So far, under President Biden, the S&P 500 has increased almost 40%, according to calculations on June 13.

Biden claims he’s the only president this century that doesn’t have troops dying anywhere in the world: False

Details: At least 16 U.S. service members have died while serving overseas during Mr. Biden’s presidency. Thirteen U.S. service members died in an attack at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan in August 2021. Three soldiers were killed in an attack in Jordan in January of this year.

Trump claims he did not refer to U.S. soldiers who were killed as “suckers and losers”: False

Trump: “First of all, that was a made-up quote. ‘Suckers and losers,’ they made it up.”

Details: Current and former U.S. military service members have detailed to CBS News multiple instances when Trump made disparaging remarks about members of the U.S. military who were captured or killed, including referring to the American war dead at the Aisle-Marne American Cemetery in France in 2018 as “losers” and “suckers.”

A senior Defense Department official and a former U.S. Marine Corps officer with direct knowledge of what was said detailed how Trump said he did not want to visit the cemetery because it was “filled with losers.” These accounts were backed independently by two other officials — a former senior U.S. Army officer and a separate, former senior U.S. Marine Corps officer.

In another conversation on the trip, Trump referred to the 1,800 Marines who died in the World War I battle of Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.  The Atlantic was first to report Trump’s comments in 2020. His former chief of staff John Kelly later confirmed to CNN the essence of what Trump had said.

Biden claims 40% fewer people are crossing border illegally, better than when Trump was in office: Partially true

Biden: “I’ve changed it in a way that now you’re in a situation where there 40% fewer people coming across the border illegally; it’s better than when he left office.”

Details: Since Mr. Biden issued a proclamation banning most migrants from asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border in early June, illegal crossings there have dropped. In the past week, daily illegal border crossings have averaged roughly 2,000, according to internal Department of Homeland Security data obtained by CBS News. That’s a 47% drop from the 3,800 daily average in May.

During the height of a spike in migration faced by the Trump administration in 2019, Border Patrol recorded an average of 4,300 daily illegal crossings, government data show. But there were months during the Covid-19 pandemic when the Trump administration averaged fewer than 2,000 illegal border crossings.

Trump claims migrants coming to U.S. and “killing our citizens at a level…we’ve never seen before”: Misleading

Trump: “People are coming in and killing our citizens at a level like we’ve never seen before.”

Details:  Some migrants who are believed to have entered the U.S. along the southern border in recent years have been charged with murder and other heinous crimes in different parts of the country. They include the suspect in the high-profile murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley.

But while the data on this question is not comprehensive, available studies have found that migrants living in the country illegally do not commit crimes at a higher rate than native-born Americans.

Government statistics also show a very small fraction of migrants processed by Border Patrol have criminal records in the U.S. or other countries that share information with American officials.

On COVID, Trump claims more people died under Biden administration than his: True, but needs context

Trump: “Remember, more people died under his administration — even though we had largely fixed it — more people died under his administration than our administration, and we were right in the middle of it, something which a lot of people don’t like to talk about. But [Biden] had far more people dying in his administration.”

Details: More than 460,000 people had died from COVID-19 by the end of the week that Biden was inaugurated in 2021, while more than 725,000 have died in the three years since then, according to data from the CDC. However, research has found that the counts of COVID-19 deaths, especially in the early days of the pandemic, were likely undercounted.

In discussing abortion, Trump claims former Virginia governor, a Democrat, supported killing babies: False

Trump: “If you look at the former governor of Virginia, he was willing to do this — he said ‘we’ll put the baby aside and we’ll determine what we’ll do with the baby’...meaning we’ll kill the baby.”

Details: In a 2019 radio interview then-governor of Virginia Ralph Northam, in discussing late-term abortions,  addressed a hypothetical scenario in which a fetus was severely deformed or wasn’t otherwise viable. He said, “the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired.”

Northam did not say the fetus should be killed. Killing a newborn baby — or infanticide — is illegal in every state, and not a single state is trying to change that.

Trump claims Biden “went after” his political opponent in New York “hush money” case to damage him: False

Trump: “[Biden] basically went after his political opponent (Trump) because he thought it was going to damage me, but when the public found out about these cases, ’cause they understand it better than he does, he has no idea what these cases are, but when they found out about these cases, you know what they did? My poll numbers went up, way up.”

Details: There is no federal jurisdiction over a state case. The Manhattan district attorney’s office is a separate entity from the U.S. Department of Justice. The department does not supervise the work of the Manhattan D.A.’s office, does not approve its charging decisions, and it does not try the D.A.’s cases.

Trump claims he brought insulin prices down for seniors: Misleading

Trump: “I’m the one that got the insulin down for the seniors. I took care of the seniors.”

Details:  During Trump’s time as president, Medicare created a voluntary program in 2020 between some plans and insulin manufacturers that agreed to cap out-of-pocket costs for insulin at $35 per month. Around half of Medicare Advantage or stand-alone prescription drug plans ended up participating by 2021.

David Ricks, CEO of insulin drugmaker Eli Lilly, has taken credit for pioneering the idea with Trump administration officials at a congressional hearing and in an interview. In the same interview with STAT, Seema Verma, former Medicare agency chief in the Trump administration, gave Ricks the credit for the cap: “He is an unsung hero. He was actually the mastermind of all of this.”

Medicare ended the policy in 2023, after Mr. Biden signed into law the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped insulin costs for Medicare beneficiaries — not just for the portion of plans participating in the program. The law capped insulin costs at the same amount of $35 per month.

Trump claims Biden wants open borders: False

Trump: “He wants open borders. He wants our country to either be destroyed or he wants to pick up those people as voters.”

Details: When he took office, Mr. Biden reversed numerous Trump-era immigration policies, including a program that required migrants to await their asylum hearings in Mexico. U.S. Border Patrol has also reported record numbers of migrant apprehensions along the southern border during Mr. Biden’s presidency. But Mr. Biden has never endorsed or implemented an “open borders” policy.

In fact, Mr. Biden has embraced some restrictive border policies that mirror rules enacted by his predecessor. In 2023, his administration published a regulation that disqualified migrants from asylum if they crossed into the country illegally after not seeking protection in a third country.

Earlier this month, Mr. Biden enacted an even stricter policy: a proclamation that has partially shut down asylum processing along the border. His administration has also carried out over 4 million deportations, expulsions and returns of migrants since 2021, according to government data.

Only U.S. citizens can vote in federal elections. Most who cross into the U.S. illegally are not on a path to permanent legal status, let alone citizenship. Even those who apply and win asylum — a process that typically takes years to complete — have to wait five years as permanent U.S. residents before applying for American citizenship. There’s no evidence to suggest that the Biden administration’s border policy is based on a desire to convert migrants into voters.

Biden claims Trump wants to get rid of Social Security: False

Biden “[Trump] wants to get rid of Social Security. He thinks there’s plenty to cut in social security. He’s wanted to cut Social Security and Medicare, both times.”

Details: Trump has repeatedly said he will try to protect Medicare and Social Security. Trump said in a March 21 Truth Social post that he would not “under any circumstance” allow Social Security to “be even touched” if he were president. Trump had said in a CNBC interview on March 11 that “there is a lot you can do” in terms of “cutting” spending under Social Security. Mr. Biden said the comments were proof Trump aimed to make cuts in the programs, but a Trump campaign spokesman said Trump was referring to “cutting waste and fraud,” not Social Security entitlements.

Trump claims Biden has the “largest deficit” in history of U.S.: False

Trump: “But he’s (Biden) got the largest deficit in the history of our country.”

Details: The national deficit was the largest it had been in over two decades under Trump’s administration, not Mr. Biden’s, according to data from the U.S. Treasury. The deficit peaked in fiscal year 2020 at $3.13 trillion, and declined to $1.7 trillion by the end of fiscal year 2023.

Upon investigating other false representations to purposefully mislead the American public, CNN reported that Right-wing media outlets used deceptively cropped video to misleadingly claim Biden wandered off at G7 summit.

Media intentionally lying to the public and the world is how the Tea Party’s maligned mentality infiltrated the once reputable ranks of the Republican Party and is what sabotaged their audiences into believing fake news is real.

According to MSN.com, right-wing media outlets used a deceptively cropped video to misleadingly claim President Joe Biden wandered off during an event with other world leaders at the G7 summit in Italy June 13.

So How Is Your Inner Child Doing? Updated 5/21/20

It’s as if we are all having flash backs to the 1970s. It would be helpful to re-read M. Scott Peck’s “The Road Less Traveled” from 1978. It very well could be the antidote to our grown up issues with our temper tantrum inner child. I can hear the echo of The Eagles’ hit song, “Get Over It,” as the remedy to “kick its little ass.”

How IS your inner child doing?

The Road Less Traveled is a timeless book on the benefits of delayed gratification as a means to living a more fulfilling adult life. It may also be the only remedy to living life at all these days.

Has your inner child been catching your attention lately?

Is your inner child running your life much to the chaos that only a two-year-old running the house can bring?

How are you with delayed gratification of anything?

I ask this question given the times we are living in right now. We are in the midst of a worldwide coronavirus pandemic, which has no known cure, is highly contagious, is transferable from person to person 14 to 21 days prior to any symptoms, and is not gone in many parts of the world. Two days ago when this article was first posted, the country with the worst batting record of winning the global pandemic is the United States of America, with over 1,490,022 cases, which is an increase of 18,937. These numbers continue to increase minute by minute. As I update this post 2 days later, currently the confirmed coronavirus cases in the USA total 1,551,680, which is an increase of 23,285 cases over yesterday, and an increase in deaths totaling 93,434, an increase of 1,518.

In Massachusetts, for example, three days ago confirmed COVID-19 cases were 80,497, an increase of 1,165 from the previous day. Today, confirmed cases total 88,970, an increase of 1,045 over yesterday. Deaths from COVID-19 today are 93,434, an increase of 1,518 over yesterday.

I’ve heard so many people say, “Stop telling the confirmed case numbers and the deaths. That is so depressing. Let’s start talking about only positive things. I’m am depressed, you know. I must concentrate on other things.”

As a holistic counselor, I have taught about the power of positive thinking in every session I ever held, for years. But there is a difference between denying reality by focusing on something that does not solve the problem and doing something positive about it to arrive at a solution. You and I cannot arrive at the solution if we do not look at the huge, extremely contagious problem with no known cure. Wishing it would go away will not make it go away. It will make it stay around forever. Saying, “It is not happening,” does not make it not happen.

Many states are in the same boat on the river of “denial.” That used to be a funny joke. Now it is a sad state of reality.

As a nation, we seem to be unable to do the adult discipline of dealing with the problem head on. If only pointing fingers, blaming, ignoring, and spinning tales could get us out of this one. Even though it was three months late in the game, we did manage to begin social distancing, and wearing masks and gloves, at least some of us did that, and some of us only after a penalty of $300 was assessed for those of us who stamped our feet and still said, “No I won’t.”

But that did not stop 315,822 humans from dying. Some will say that number is too high because some people who died in the hospital, who had COVID-19 really died from having heart attacks and respiratory and other failures. Even some of the people that denied that this coronavirus was nothing more than a bad flu and was a hoax also died from COVID-19.

However, the reality is that COVID-19 weakens hearts and lungs, and those heart attacks and deaths from lung issues were most likely from COVID-19. Also, we only know about confirmed cases. Only one percent of the population in the United States has been tested. The reality is that the number of people walking around with COVID-19 is far greater.

What’s a person to do?

We have spent two whole months social distancing, and wearing masks, and some of us wearing gloves too. Some of us are looking at the same numbers and saying, “Enough is enough. We cannot go on like this. The businesses are hurting. People need paychecks.”

The answer in some states is to rush to open up businesses before the curve has really flattened. As long as any state is having increased confirmed cases, the situation is getting worse, not better. Some states have better track records of how they limited this killer virus in the first place.

Common sense is needed at the helm. If your particular state or country determines it is ready to open up to business, consider not allowing your inner child to make decisions for you that could seriously shorten your life, or shorten the lives of those around you. Do check out the statistics for your country, state, county and city or town. Determine for yourself what guidelines you want to live by.

You only get one life. Protect your inner child.

Dealing With Anxiety In An Anxious Time ~ Your Previous History Is Not Your Destiny

When you have done all you can possibly do to keep yourself and your family safe during this coronavirus pandemic,

Is my anxiety serving me?

worrying about it solves nothing. You and I both know this. So how do we step out of fear from obvious threats that surround us?

Here are some mental health tools that work 100 percent of the time.

They will not work if you mentally argue against them. In this post I am asking you to put aside any negative thoughts such as, “This doesn’t (can’t, won’t) work,” and “I’ve tried this before,” and “My situation is different,” and “I have been diagnosed with depression (trauma, Autism, any other mental health label).” As long as we hang our hat on our special reason for why we are the way we are, we seldom seek to apply the mental health tools that alleviate stress, anxiety, panic and panic attacks.

Stop hanging on to the reason you are the way you are. Instead, cling to the time-tested words that have helped so many people rise above the crippling drama that can shut you down.

Let me repeat that these mental health tools work 100 percent of the time. Try them out for 21 days. It takes 21 days to change a habit. It is sad to see in today’s society how we more readily grab onto labels of dysfunction as opposed to labels that help us move out of dysfunction. It does help to have a starting point, as long as that starting point does not become the reason you do not decide to move forward to improve your mental health. Yes, we have to deal with the mental health challenges, just know they are not insurmountable.

MENTALLY

“Remember, only your beliefs about yourself can affect the way you feel … only your thoughts can affect your emotions.” Dr. Dolores Seymour

People who did not listen to the labels that were put on them include Walt Disney and Albert Einstein. Disney was told by a newspaper owner to pursue a line of work other than drawing because he didn’t have any creative ideas. Einstein’s schoolmaster told him he would never amount to much. Neither one of them stopped their dreams because of labels that were imposed upon them. They heard the labels with all their limitations, and went ahead to create their own life.

If you have a diagnosis or label others or you give yourself, know that you are not limited mentally, physically or spiritually by these labels. They are not a justification for the way you are. What you have is a unique set of circumstances that you work with, not that define you, even if you are in a wheelchair.

It helps to realize that you decide for yourself what is right or wrong. Others can tell you what is right or wrong for them, but they cannot tell you what is right or wrong for you because they are not in your shoes. It all depends on your perspective to determine what is right or wrong.

“The choice is yours. Today, every day, can be an adventure as you turn crises into opportunities.” Dr. Dolores Seymour

Change your daily goals based on today’s circumstances. Perhaps you had set goals to diet, exercise, go to work, plant a garden, do project with the kids, and paint the house last month. This month you are faced with a global pandemic, social distancing and quarantine and not knowing whether or not to go out in public as businesses open and your inner self is revolting from staying inside. What do you do?

Mental health is important no matter which course of action you take, stay inside or go outside. Whatever you decide, even if it is to stay inside because you just learned that children do in fact get COVID-19, but show it with different symptoms, you still come to ground point zero. How are you going to mentally handle this? It was not in your original plan.

Change is the only constant in life. Go with the flow. Fighting change is a no win battle, like attempting to stop an avalanche careening down a mountain while valiantly using a snowboard to resist it. Stop fighting change and figure out the best way for you to snowboard down that mountain. Staying stuck will immobilize you.

Try this plan instead:

1. Stop all negative thoughts that come into your mind. Stop the blame. Stop the guilt. Any time a negative or anxious thought comes to mind say CANCEL.

2. Know your limitations and work with them. If you have triggers that send you spiraling out of control, learn to recognize them. The sooner you see them manifesting in your day, the better you will be able to deal with them. You are in control of you, not your limitations. You are in control of your feelings and emotions, no matter how strong and scary they feel. Your feelings and emotions are not in control of you. You are very powerful. Whatever you tell yourself, you will be. When you learn to validate and know yourself better, you will be able to decide how you want to feel. The choice is yours. Feelings, emotions and moods follow thoughts ALWAYS. It is never the other way around.

IF YOU DO NOT LIKE HOW YOU ARE FEELING, CHANGE HOW YOU ARE THINKING.

3. Say a positive statement, also known as a mantra, that will help you stay focused on your new mental health plan. This works, unless you use your free will not do do it. Say this positive statement often throughout the day, on the hour each hour, or use triggers like, each time you touch a door knob. Say this simple statement of affirmation in the positive, such as, “I am a positive person,” not “I am not a negative person.” Say this mantra even if it is not how you are feeling. If you concentrate on how you are feeling (what I call belly-button gazing), you will keep feeling how you are feeling. Feelings are not right or wrong, they just are. But only focusing on how you are feeling at the moment is like walking round with your feet stuck in buckets of cement, expecting to magically feel better. Drop the negativity. Choose a mantra of how you WANT to feel. Start the statement with the words “I am …”

Positive mantras to choose from if you can’t think of any are:

  • I am happy
  • I am content
  • I am at peace
  • I am whole
  • I am able to do this
  • I am confident
  • I am in control of me
  • I am in control of my thoughts

PHYSICAL

You and I have choices and decisions to make. If you and I do not make our own choices, others will fill in the void and make them for us. Do you want to be more fully in control of you? You can be, no matter your past history. Your previous history is not your destiny.

It is interesting to know that any positive changes you decide to make in your life do not have to be done with over-the-top drama. You can peacefully make the changes you wish to make. Once you decide to act rather than to react to life, peace will flood your life, even in the midst of this pandemic and other people’s drama. You become the captain of your life ship. You no longer are the shipmate of ship-wrecked emotions and meltdowns.

Sometimes, many people around you will not know exactly how to respond to the new you. People do not like change, most like the status quo. You might find people trying to put you back into the box you just got yourself out of. Others are not in charge of you. This also does not have to be confrontational. You do not need to match their emotion, frustration nor outrage. You can remain emotionally level and simply be the new you.

Decide on how you wish to improve your physical health, even if it is just to go for a walk or a less populated park, go for a ride in the car for a sight-seeing adventure, or do stretches inside your living room.

Maybe you are an introvert and would like to improve your diet or physical health independently. There’s nothing wrong with that. Validate where you are, set goals, improve your oxygen intake and go at your own pace. Setting goals for each day and week will get you to where you want to be. Go at your own pace.

Your body is supported by the tripod of life, mind, body, spirit. You need all three to be healthy for a whole and productive life. Without one of these healthy legs to support you, you fall down. Make sure to take good care of each one of them.

SPIRITUALLY

You and I each have our own walk of faith and beliefs that have gotten us this far in life. We need faith to feed our soul. People who live life without attention to their spirit/soul will gravitate to the materialistic and consumeristic things in life in a misguided attempt to fill the void in life that only God can fill. Some of us have deep spiritual lives. God is the only one that can fill this part of us. We can have interests in painting, music, sports, friends, but all of these interests, as fulfilling as they are, are no match for how God can fill a soul who is ready to embark on that spiritual journey.

Find a good book on prayer and meditation. At this time of social distancing, online prayer meetings and social gatherings for meditations or spiritual community outreach are recommended.

As good as social settings are for friendship, individual prayer feeds the soul the best. After all, it is an individual journey we are all taking here on earth. We are born alone, thanks to the grace of God. In the end of our life, we go back to God. Now is the time to foster growth in getting to know the Creator of all love, faith and hope. If there ever was a time for faith hope and love, it is now.

All of these mental health tools are drugless therapies. You can do this.

Warnings From Heaven by VCatholic.com

VCatholic

Suppose you happen to hear somebody saying; “Men have prepared the virus of death and my poor children will experience great sufferings. There will be no barriers to contain its advance”, what would be your immediate response? I am asking this question in the present context of coronavirus spreading like wildfire. I am not going deep into the question of where the virus originated from. Whatever be the true reason behind the outbreak of the pandemic, one thing is sure, the spread of virus was a manmade disaster. Geographical barriers cannot stop its spread.

After seeing the relentless advance of COVID-19, most of you will agree that the initialMary Warnings statement was surely a warning message from heaven. What you guessed is correct. It was a warning from heaven about the outbreak of a deadly disease in the world. But I need to add something more. The message was given to a man in Brazil by Our Lady Queen of Peace 15 years ago. To be precise, it was message number 2594 given by Mother Mary to Pedro Regis of Brazil on October 25, 2005! Perhaps some among us has read about it somewhere, sometime earlier but forgot it over time.

When we see the doors of churches shut all over the world and priests finding it difficult to offer Holy Mass and the faithful lamenting about not getting the Blessed Sacrament, we may wonder how unexpectedly these things happened. It was not in our wildest dreams that we would not be allowed to enter our parish church and attend Holy Mass. But it happened. When we were sitting complacent, thinking that everything was going well, it fell like a bolt from the blue. There was no warning, it was so unexpected, you may think. Now read the following:

“An order will be given and the doors will be shut. Those who are consecrated will not be permitted to fulfill their duties and the faithful will weep and lament.” It is not from the newspapers of the past week. It was a message given to Pedro Regis (message no 2990) on 04/29/2008!

When COVID-19 spread from one nation to another, remember this message of our Mother. “Now is the time of the great tribulations. An epidemic will spread to various nations and my poor children will experience a heavy cross” (message no 2626 dated 10, 1, 2006).

When we see Italy struggling with COVID-19 and the death toll crossing 16,000, remember Our Lady’s message no 3807 of April 16, 2013; “Death will pass through Italia and my poor children will carry a heavy cross. Similar events will occur in Lima.”

When I skimmed through the messages for preparing this article, one thing that caught my attention was that certain messages were repeated multiple times. They were messages about the importance of sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Confession. Every message was a call for holding on to sacraments so as to get the strength to tide over the period of trials. And the second most repeated messages were related to the impending time of trials. Our Lady has been giving us warnings for the past many years.

The third most repeated messages are about the need to be faithful to the true magisterium of the Church. Our Lady has warned that efforts are on to change the teachings of the Church with an ulterior motive. Everything will be done in the guise of good intentions. Beware, we should not fall prey to such gimmicks.

One thing special about the messages given to Pedro Regis by Our Lady of Peace at Anguera was that specific places were mentioned on many occasions. For example; difficult times for Kenya (2594), Great suffering from Karachi (2602), Columbia stumbling and drinking the cup of pain (2602), Kosovo to be in ruins (2605), Naples living the anguish of a prisoner (2614), Cyprus going into suffering ( 2617), Malta shedding tears for its children (2617), Rome losing glory and fame (2622), throne of Peter to fall (2622), screams of help from Bethlehem (4829), messages about Bologna in Italy (4871) etc.

Believe me, I have picked around a hundred messages only at random from a total of more than 4800. If I could catch the names of the above places when I rushed through these hundred odd messages, imagine how elaborate are the messages Our Lady gives us.

Details about Pedro Regis and the messages he received from Our Lady are available in apelosurgentes.com.br. While going through the messages, what struck me most was the similarity or rather repetition of the messages Our Lady gave to humankind in La Salette ( 1846), Lourdes (1858), Fathima (1917), Amsterdam (1945), Monte Chiari ( 1947), Garabandhal ( 1961), Akitha ( 1973) and Medjugorje(1981) with those given to Pedro Regis.

Our Lady is the Virgin of the Revelation. She opens the secrets of prophecies for her children. This is to enable them to wage relentless war against the devil and his minions in the end times. That is exactly the reason why the devil is so angry with us. ‘Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her children, those who keep the commandments of God and hold the testimony of Jesus’ ( Rev. 12;17).

Satan – that ancient dragon – knows what is going to happen in the immediate future. He also knows that Mary’s children have got the gift of discernment from the Holy Spirit. It is difficult for him to ensnare them like other gullible and credulous men and women.

That is why we need our Mother’s help now. She will reveal the inner meanings of every signs of the times so that her children are not caught unawares.

“Him I Have So Long Desired” ~ Palm Sunday Prayer

I invite you to share in my joy, happiness, serene peace, forgiveness, and abiding love.

This beautiful prayer makes a meditative pause in the breath of this Palm Sunday. Find a few quiet moments to rejuvenate your mind, soul and spirit. Drink from the well that never will run dry.

This prayer was first published as “Ad Quem diu Suspiravi,” from the Latin of Alexander LeopoldFranz Emmerich, Prince of Hohenlohe, Bishop of Sardica. It was translated by the Rev. John F. Duston, S.J.

“He for Whom my heart was sighing

Jesus, now at last is mine.

I possess him and embrace Him

Sharing in His life divine.

*

So, my soul, with all thy powers,

Let thy hymn of triumph ring

And with holy exultation,

Greet the coming of thy King.

*

Sad was I. distressed and lonely;

Joyless was the path I trod;

He, above all else the dearest,

Was not near me – He, my God.

*

Ah! but then He came and entered

In the dwelling of my soul

And the deepest consolation

Held me in its sweet control.

*

Strong the sun, dispersing shadows

Lowering over the darkened earth;

Gently strong, the falling raindrops

Bringing wilted flowers rebirth.

*

Stronger still, the Master Lover

Dissipates my human fears;

Gone all sorrows; gone all anguish;

And the light of hope appears.

*

Now, the day in beauty dawning,

Now each hour till night from morn,

Breathes its happy benediction,

Jesus in my heart is born.

*

He who has Thee wants for nothing;

Thy possession, joy supreme,

Font of life with all its riches,

Happiness and peace serene.

*

Shall I not then, sing Thy praises,

King of kings and Lord of Lords,

If within my heart, I ponder

All the gifts Thy love accords?

*

As I hasten to unfold Thee

In my arms – myself alone –

Thou art rushing, gently, loving,

To enfold me in Thine own.

*

Let me count Thy gifts, dear Jesus:

Out from dark eternity,

Thou hast fashioned me from nothing –

Nothing and obscurity.

*

Thou hast given of Thy nature –

Human me, a thing divine!

Sharing, through Thy loving kindness,

Treasures that are truly Thine.

*

On a wind-swept hill, deserted,

In a stable, Thou were born.

And Thy death – ah, what a contrast!

Love divine, and human scorn!

*

These were gifts, but all above them.

Every day, You come to me,

All forgiven; all forgotten,

Smiling, gracious, lovingly.

*

O the rapture, dearest Jesus,

That Thy thrilling presence brings!

Take me in complete possession,

Son of God and King of kings.

*

Love of self – the weed most killing –

Root it out and in its place,

Plant Thy Love; make me adore Thee;

Make me love Thee by Thy grace.

*

Take whatever in me hurts Thee,

So that You and I may be

Joined in everlasting friendship

Now and in eternity

*

When the sun in glory rises,

When at night, it sinks to rest,

Stay with me, my dearest Jesus,

Loved, by Thou my loving Guest.

*

Let not life with all its falseness,

Let not Death’s relentless power,

Let no force, however potent,

Break the union of this hour.

*

Till my dying breath I’ll love Thee;

In my heart, I’ll praise Thy name

Till my human voice in heaven,

Joins angelic hosts’ acclaim.

*

Then, I’ll gaze on Thee in rapture;

See Thee as Thou truly art;

I shall love Thee – love Thee Always –

Soul to soul and Heart to heart.

AMEN

Ignorance Is Not A Virtue ~ Ignorance Is Not Bliss ~ COVID-19 Stats To Date

1 World Map

Ignorance is not a virtue. Diminishing reality, or pretending and announcing that things are not as grim as they seem will not be the protection people worldwide need to stay healthy and avoid this global pandemic.

Do we need to go into fear?

No.

What we need to stay healthy is to adhere to the social distancing of six feet or more between people, even if they do not show any symptoms. As most of us know by now, people who are spreading COVID-19 are doing so up to fourteen days before they know they have the symptoms. By this time, it is too late for the numerous people they have already come in contact with.

This is not only a disease for old people. Most of the COVID-19 cases in New York City, according to New York Governor Cuomo, are young people 18 to 49 years of age, more than 50 percent of the people who have contracted this disease.

“Young people can get it and young people can transfer it,” said Cuomo today.

He also said that to be socializing on basketball courts and congregating with friends as if there is nothing to be concerned about is simply arrogant and selfish. He said New York has already had 374 deaths.

“This is sobering, sad and distressing,” he said, acknowledging 311,000 who know are known to have it, and over 13,000 deaths, as mentioned below.

Cuomo also acknowledged the “cabin fever” and aloneness everyone can feel emotionally in this situation, but advised everyone to rise to the occasion and follow the guidelines. He said we need to make mental adjustments to continue with order and function, not to hoard food and run into chaos. Know things will be OK in the long run. Just rise to the challenges, he said.

The faster we adhere to the social distancing and self-quarantine guidelines, the faster this pandemic will end. The more we choose to ignore these guidelines, the longer the pandemic will exist. This is the advise of our medical experts.

I do not understand pictures I have seen of churches still open and having services, with people sitting side by side, in rows back to back. Is it the thought that God will not allow bad things to happen to good people? Do we really think that if we prayed hard enough that nothing bad will happen to us?

It seems to me taking medicines for our ailments, seeing doctors, and following medical advice is not a denial of God, or lack of faith in God. God gives us wisdom to follow medical guidance, as is the case now with this COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, soon it will be all over. But until then, let us all use the brains the good Lord gave us and obey the advice of the doctors during this worldwide pandemic.

There’s that word again, obey. This was briefly addressed in the previous post in this blog.

Don’t we all have free will?

Yes.

We can choose to be willfully ignorant for a wide host of reasons, or we can choose to be smarter, grow a bit more in character development, and follow the doctor’s advice. Who likes to obey? Aren’t we all adults? Yes, but sometimes we revert back to being children, doing what we want, when we want and how we want. Let us all chose not to do that, for the sake and love of everyone else around us.

Prudence Is A Virtue ~ Prudence Will Mitigate Spread Of The COVID-19

4 Lin Massage ClinicMy life’s work as an international holistic health counselor/practitioner came into play far more than all the other holistic work I did at my business, The Massage Clinic, which had four offices: Stratford, Milford, Orange and West Haven, Connecticut. I personally held over 5,000 of the 8,000 appointments, many of which were doctor referred. In the course of my eight years there, prior to my retirement, I hired a total of nine other massage therapists who worked on the remaining clients. I treasured, and still to this very day still treasure, all people who came through the doors at The Massage Clinic. For the health of all other incoming clients and therapists working there, I sent more than one client home who had a “just a cold.” Even with “just a cold,” people need to practice prudence. Other words for prudence are: wisdom, carefulness, thoughtfulness, as taught in Lesson Two of my book, The Virtue of Virtues, now out for a second printing since 1999.

However, CORVID-19, is NOT  “just a cold and NOT just the flu.” The common cold is a Coronavirus and some of the flu is also known to be a Coronavirus, BUT COVID-19 IS DIFFERENT. The common flu kills people at a rate of 0.095%, but COVID-19 kills people at a rate of 3.8% in most cases. According to the Center for Disease Control, CDC, the number of cases of last flu season were 49,000,000. Had that been at the same death rate that COVID-19 is this year, 3.8%, than that would be 1,862,000 deaths from the flu; but there were only 20,000 – 52,000 deaths from the flu last flu season. COVID-19 is dramatically more deadly. This fact is just as true  here in the United Sates of America as it is in the countries hardest hit by the virus, such as China and Italy and Iran. In our country the death rate is actually higher since we have no accurate idea of how many people are affected. We did not in the beginning of the outbreak, and still do not, test for the virus.

Holistic counseling was at the heart of most every appointment, at the request of the clients. Some therapies were geared to silent sessions, but even those, clients began speaking to me, seeking a listening ear. People need people. We are social beings.  However, prudence is telling all of us in every corner of the world to use social distancing, not shaking hands, staying home if we are sick (and not lying to ourselves that we are not really that sick), avoiding crowds, and using antibacterial disinfecting hand washes and wipes, and wear a mask if we present with ANY cold symptoms, even when we have gone out with “just the cold” symptoms before.

WE CAN GREET EACH OTHER WITH SMILES, NODS, USING OUR CELL PHONES FOR COMMUNICATION, NOT WITH HAND SHAKES, HUGS AND KISSES WE ARE ACCUSTOMED TO USING.

The dawning of COVID-19, which is far more deadly that the common cold and flu can be limited by the use of all of us worldwide using the virtue of prudence.

Now is not the time to promote being on the same political team, even if what is being said is scientifically inaccurate, as voters who have chosen a particular side can do in every country in the world, as if putting blinders on, refusing to even hear a different point of view will somehow diminish their momentum of getting their politician in office. Now is not the time for political rhetoric. Now is the time for prudence, no matter who you are or where you live.

Prudence is wisdom. Wisdom does not just come from Plato or Greek philosophy. Peter Kreeft is a Ph.D. in philosophy at Boston College, and author of over 75 books including Back to Virtue. According to Kreeft, the virtues, including wisdom, come from scripture. “They (virtues) are knowable by human nature, which God designed, not Plato.”

Kreeft has a Podcast at: http://www.peterkreeft.com.

Other books by Peter Kreeft are:

Handbook of Christian Apologetics

Christianity for Modern Pagans

Fundamentals of the Faith

Kreeft calls living the virtues, “a matter of life or death. There are, then, three reasons to practice virtue, one heavenly and two earthly. The highest heavenly reason is to please God, out of love for God, who is Love. The second reason is to be human, to have a healthy human soul. Virtue is soul-health. The third reason is to survive. In the nuclear age we must love one another or die. But the third reason will not work without the other two. For it fails to answer the crucial question why to survive, for what earthly or heavenly end?

“It is true, terribly true, that without virtue we will not survive; that if we do not go back to virtue we will soon return to the jungle or to the dust. But we cannot survive without a reason to survive, and this must sooner or later land us in the realm of ultimate reasons, the realm of religion.

“I want to prove three principles, which are related logically in a syllogism:
1. Without virtue, civilization dies.
2. Without religion, virtue dies.
3. Therefore without religion, civilization dies.
“In other words:
1. Virtue is necessary for the survival of civilization.
2. And religion is necessary for the survival of virtue.
3. Therefore religion is necessary for the survival of civilization.”

Right now we have the opportunity to practice all of the virtues, but especially wisdom, which is prudence, to counteract the ignorance and willful dumbing down of society that only looks at one of the facts, the ones than are on “our side.” Let us wake up, pay attention to the scientists and doctors trying their best to tell us how to best survive and the precautions to take; and to the religious leaders inspiring us to Love, as God is Love, in order to save this one planet we all call home.
