Sex ~ Paying For Sex ~ Bartering Sex For Payment ~ Human Trafficking ~ Men, Women, And Children Are Not Bargaining Chips

jars of human_traffickingPaying for sex,  bartering sex for payment, and human trafficking on a larger scale is beneath the human dignity for which Godpie of human-trafficking-statistics created us.

In every culture, in every country, regardless of race, color, creed, and gender; reducing men, women and children to a means of making other people money, or paying debts, or payment for food or material goods, or even as means of payment for sex for human pleasure, is a misunderstanding of the full potential of every human being. There is a reason every person is born on this earth. It is not for other people’s financial gain, power, nor the misuse of sex.

Each and every person has the God-given right to the privacy of their own body, and to live their own life, without threat, harm, manipulation, bribery, or any other means of usurping their own personal power.

Some cultures practice various forms of caste systems, in order to keep certain people down, while elevating others. However, this practice goes against the God-given human dignity of all people, in every country, in every situation and in every circumstance. We even see financial forms of caste systems in all countries. How does your country take care of its poor?

Sometimes people like to say one thing, but do another. In some shady practices, someone might say they want to go and get a massage. Therapeutic massage is extremely beneficial for healing stress, and for the recovery of sore muscles. But in less than reputable parlors, “happy endings,” those sexual favors that do come with a price, and take place worldwide. What is the problem?

10facts[1]

Human dignity that each and every human being is born with, which comes directly from God. No other human being cannot honorably be taken away by any other human being, without being in direct violation of the Creator himself. Some may attempt to justify their actions by erroneously thinking that it is a “win-win” for all involved, someone gets paid for a service, and someone gets that service. However, people are not things to be used as bargaining chips, nor to be bought and sold. The conscience knows. Greed and selfishness will be answerable to Almighty God at the end of all our lives.

Please join me in praying for people caught in these less than human roles, that they might be helped and regain their dignity as God intended for them to have; and pray for everyone to stop abusing children, women and men, and to put an end to these abusive crimes against humanity.

God Bless Everyone Everywhere

Sweden’s Prostitution Solution: Why Hasn’t Anyone Tried This Before?

Esnoticia!co has published an innovative solution to the sex trafficking of women and children that has met with success in Sweden. The twist is that female prostitutes are treated as victims, and the male purchasers of women are the ones who get arrested.
In a centuries deep sea of clichés despairing that ‘prostitution will always be with us’, one country’s success stands out as a solitary beacon lighting the way. In just five years Sweden has dramatically reduced the number of its women in prostitution. In the capital city of Stockholm the number of women in street prostitution has been reduced by two thirds, and the number of johns has been reduced by 80%. There are other major Swedish cities where street prostitution has all but disappeared. Gone too, for the most part, are the renowned Swedish brothels and massage parlors which proliferated during the last three decades of the twentieth century when prostitution in Sweden was legal.
Sweden's Prostitution Solution: Why Hasn't Anyone Tried This Before?

In addition, the number of foreign women now being trafficked into Sweden for sex is nil. The Swedish government estimates that in the last few years only 200 to 400 women and girls have been annually sex trafficked into Sweden, a figure that’s negligible compared to the 15,000 to 17,000 females yearly sex trafficked into neighboring Finland. No other country, nor any other social experiment, has come anywhere near Sweden’s promising results.

By what complex formula has Sweden managed this feat? Amazingly, Sweden’s strategy isn’t complex at all. It’s tenets, in fact, seem so simple and so firmly anchored in common sense as to immediately spark the question, “Why hasn’t anyone tried this before?”

Sweden’s Groundbreaking 1999 Legislation

In 1999, after years of research and study, Sweden passed legislation that a) criminalizes the buying of sex, and b) decriminalizes the selling of sex. The novel rationale behind this legislation is clearly stated in the government’s literature on the law:

“In Sweden prostitution is regarded as an aspect of male violence against women and children. It is officially acknowledged as a form of exploitation of women and children and constitutes a significant social problem… gender equality will remain unattainable so long as men buy, sell and exploit women and children by prostituting them.”

In addition to the two pronged legal strategy, a third and essential element of Sweden’s prostitution legislation provides for ample and comprehensive social service funds aimed at helping any prostitute who wants to get out, and additional funds to educate the public. As such, Sweden’s unique strategy treats prostitution as a form of violence against women in which the men who exploit by buying sex are criminalized, the mostly female prostitutes are treated as victims who need help, and the public is educated in order to counteract the historical male bias that has long stultified thinking on prostitution. To securely anchor their view in firm legal ground, Sweden’s prostitution legislation was passed as part and parcel of the country’s 1999 omnibus violence against women legislation.

An Early Obstacle in the Path

Interestingly, despite the country’s extensive planning prior to passing the legislation, the first couple years into this novel project nothing much happened at all. Police made very few arrests of johns and prostitution in Sweden, which had previously been legalized, went on pretty much as it had gone on before. Naysayers the world over responded to the much publicized failure with raucous heckling, “See? Prostitution always has been, and it always will be.”

But eminently secure in the thinking behind their plan, the Swedes paid no heed. They quickly identified, then solved the problem. The hang-up, the place where their best efforts had snagged, was that law enforcement wasn’t doing it’s part. The police themselves, it was determined, needed in-depth training and orientation to what the Swedish public and legislature already understood profoundly. Prostitution is a form of male violence against women. The exploiter/buyers need to be punished, and the victim/prostitutes need to be helped. The Swedish government put up extensive funds and the country’s police and prosecutors, from the top ranks down to the officer on the beat, were given intensive training and a clear message that the country meant business. It was then that the country quickly began to see the unequaled results.

Today, not only do the Swedish people continue to overwhelming support their country’s approach to prostitution (80% of people in favor according to national opinion polls), but the country’s police and prosecutors have also come around to be among the legislation’s staunchest supporters. Sweden’s law enforcement has found that the prostitution legislation benefits them in dealing with all sex crimes, particularly in enabling them to virtually wipe out the organized crime element that plagues other countries where prostitution has been legalized or regulated.

The Failure of Legalization and/or Regulation Strategies

This Swedish experiment is the single, solitary example in a significant sized population of a prostitution policy that works. In 2003, the Scottish government in looking to revamp its own approach to prostitution enlisted the University of London to do a comprehensive analysis of outcomes of prostitution policies in other countries. In addition to reviewing Sweden’s program, the researchers chose Australia, Ireland, and the Netherlands to represent various strategies of legalizing and/or regulating prostitution. The researchers did not review the situation where prostitution is criminalized across the board as it is in the US. The outcome of that approach is already well known. The failures and futility of the revolving door of arresting and rearresting prostitutes is all too familiar the world over.

But the outcomes, as revealed in the Univ. of London study, in the states under review that had legalized or regulated prostitution were found to be just as discouraging or even more discouraging than the traditional all round criminalization. In each case the results were dramatic in the negative.

Legalization and/or regulation of prostitution, according to the study, led to:

A dramatic increase in all facets of the sex industry,
A dramatic increase in the involvement of organized crime in the sex industry,
A dramatic increase in child prostitution,
An explosion in the number of foreign women and girls trafficked into the region, and
Indications of an increase in violence against women.
In the state of Victoria, Australia, where a system of legalized, regulated brothels was established, there was such an explosion in the number of brothels that it immediately overwhelmed the system’s ability to regulate them, and just as quickly these brothels became a mire of organized crime, corruption, and related crimes. In addition, surveys of the prostitutes working under systems of legalization and regulation find that the prostitutes themselves continue to feel coerced, forced, and unsafe in the business.

A survey of legal prostitutes under the showcase Netherlands legalization policy finds that 79% say they want to get out of the sex business. And though each of the legalization/regulation programs promised help for prostitutes who want to leave prostitution, that help never materialized to any meaningful degree. In contrast, in Sweden the government followed through with ample social services funds to help those prostitutes who wanted to get out. 60% of the prostitutes in Sweden took advantage of the well funded programs and succeeded in exiting prostitution.*

So Why Hasn’t Anyone Tried This Before?

Why, then, with Sweden’s success so clearly lighting the way, aren’t others quickly adopting the plan? Well, some are. Both Finland and Norway are on the verge of making the move. And if Scotland takes the advise of its own study, it will go in that direction too. But, the answer to the question of why other countries aren’t jumping to adopt Sweden’s plan is probably the same as the answer to the question of why governments haven’t tried Sweden’s solution before.

In order to see prostitutes as victims of male coercion and violence it requires that a government first switch from seeing prostitution from the male point of view to the female point of view. And most, if not virtually all, countries of the world still see prostitution and every other issue from a predominantly male point of view.

Sweden, in contrast, has led the way in promoting equality for women for a very long time. In 1965, for example, Sweden criminalized rape in marriage. Even by the 1980’s there were states in the United States that still hadn’t made that fundamental recognition of women’s rights to control her own body. The Swedish government also stands out in having the highest proportion of women at all levels of government. In 1999, when Sweden passed its groundbreaking prostitution legislation, the Swedish Parliament was composed of nearly 50% women.

Sweden’s prostitution policy was first designed and lobbied for by Sweden’s organization of women’s shelters and was then fostered and fought for by a bipartisan effort of Sweden’s uniquely powerful and numerous female parliamentarians. Nor has Sweden stopped there. In 2002, Sweden passed additional legislation bolstering the original prostitution legislation. The 2002 Act Prohibiting Human Trafficking for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation closed some of the loopholes in the earlier legislation and further strengthened the government’s ability to go after the network of persons that surround and support prostitution, such as the recruiters, the transporters, and the hosts.

And Why Can’t We Copy Sweden’s Success Here?

While it’s probably true that we and other countries are still much more steeped in patriarchal darkness than Sweden, there’s no reason we can’t push now for the policy changes that Sweden has made. The beauty of it is that once the ground has been broken and the proof of success has been established, it should be ever much easier to convince others to go down that path.

Human Rights And Neutrality Worldwide

Let us take a deeper look at human rights in every country in Africa, Russia, the Far East, the Middle East, the Near East, North America, Central America, South America, Europe, and every island and continent everywhere human beings live on the face of the earth.

Every human being in every country is born as a free human being by virtue of his or her birth, prior to enslavement of body, mind and/or spirit. People do not own people. Enslavement of any kind is beneath human dignity.

There is a way to have relationships with other countries in this world that do not involve conflict and war. This way is based on neutrality. But this way of neutrality and non-competition, is based on peaceful and loving living. No man has the human right lord it over any other man, woman or child in any country.

The placebo of a solution does not mean having a manmade war as if you, me, or whoever else, is generating Armageddon by our very own selves. This does not mean that the mightiest among us wins. Might is not right. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the richest among us who wins either, despite what it looks like now.

You and I have a right to our thoughts, opinions, choices and actions.

Women have rights to all of human life.

Women “own” themselves.

No real man can ever “own” any woman.

Abuse is not an option for women.

All women of the world need to know this.

Women in a relationship of any kind sometimes think they must endure abuse because they are in love with the person who is abusing them; or they understand the triggers in the abuser that seem to cause the abuse; or wrongly think they are somehow the problem; when the real problem is that the abusing partner.

Women in an abusive relationship need to get out of the relationship.

Class warfare and all caste systems are manmade.

Women do not need someone else’s permission to be themselves.

This post is directed towards women’s rights, but the same principles apply to children’s rights, and the rights of men. People do not own people. Every human being has the right to be safe from physical and mental abuse. Every human being has a right to freedom of thoughts, words and actions without being dominated and/or manipulated by others.

War Is An Immature Response To Social Character Development ~ The Best Way For Bombs To Stop Killing Children Is For Adults To Stop Acting Like Children

War is an immature response to social character development. War is a short-circuit in the character building of society. Simply put, war is a the-kundalini-of-the-earth-has-moved-from-atlantis-to-tibet-and-now-to-chiliperu-in-the-andes-mountainsrefusal to evolve. The best way for bombs to stop killing children is for adults to stop acting like children.

No one is going to like this answer. Rather than look inward to see if there are any grains of truth to these statements, some will point accusing fingers (both sides mind you), at lack of understanding, lack of knowing history, lack of religion; or too much understanding (on one side or the other), knowing too much history (or favoritism), and oddly enough, too much religion.

This post includes all war torn parts of our Earth, not just in Gaza, Palestine and Israel. A Malaysia airliner was shot down by a surface to air missile, killing all 298 passengers from the Netherlands, over Ukraine.

Murder is not a communication skill.

People will not support a cause because people get killed.

War atrocities that hit home, where ever home is, not only hit closest to our hearts, but also everyone with a conscience. War causes pain, clouds the thinking, generates debilitating fear, and finds demons behind every bomb, no matter what side of the issue we find ourselves on. The considerations in this post is out of genuine love for all people of earth, not just for some cultures, races and religions, and not an affront to other cultures, races and religions. There is only one world we presently all live on. Unless NASA informs us that other planets in our galaxy can support human life, this is it folks.

We humans will do just about anything “not to be wrong,” even go to war, which inevitably kills our own children. We get a kind of selective amnesia, one that defies all common sense. We think that we can do one way killing/murder, which is OK in a warped mind, because we think we have a valid point, and “that” will teach “them” a lesson. Every war has these thoughts in the mix.

Then there is retaliation. I have seen sports games where the first foul was not called, only the second, retaliatory action is penalized. But if the second foul gets a penalty, shouldn’t the first? And then, there is retaliation for retaliation, which of course, spirals into an endless war, which we blame “the other guy” for. So, let’s kill “them” first? Does that make any sense at all? What kind of people have we reduced ourselves to? This is caveman mentality, and every country at one time or another has fallen victim to it. Look at the track record. War kills people. War kills men/fathers. War kills women/mothers. War kills children. War kills life. Is this what we really want for our children, our families, our future?

Let’s grow up. As a society of intelligent human beings, our society is suffering from a short-circuit in social character development. We are stuck at two years old, with temper tantrums and all, only these are not just sick, they are deadly. And we have adult addictions to war, to the drama, to the need to be right at all costs – even death, and perhaps the most common of all addictions, the addiction to the adrenalin rush. All addictions can be healed, but we must address them.

There is another way. Peaceful conflict resolution is possible. Peace talks do not always have to crumble into, “OK, then let’s go to war.” My first suggestion, is that those who declare war, first of all, need to be the first to go. This is not a game. Even if someone did not come from a religious standpoint, stopping war on all sides would stop killing children on all sides, right?

Everyone involved in every war in the world today, and everyone involved in every war that has ever been, everyone who has ever been born, and everyone who ever will be born, we all come from the same origin.

Our society will benefit from more decisions based on peace, love and forgiveness, than it ever will on decisions based on hate, fear, war and retaliation.

Real Men Do Not Buy Women ~ They Do Not Steal Them Either

“I abducted your girls, I will sell them.” This is part of a statement by the leader of Boko Haram, claiming responsibility for the mass10295736_516237588486669_3223586064645309200_n kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls, who were mostly between 16 and 18 years old. Over 200 girls were rounded up at gunpoint and kidnapped from their school in the town of Chibok, Nigeria April 14, 2014. They had just finished their final school exams. Boko Haram’s ideology opposes both so-called western education, and particularly women’s education. Some of the luckier girls escaped as the terrorists attacked village after village in a blaze of gunfire. We cannot accept a world where girls are in danger for going to school. What if these were your daughters?

jars-of-human_traffickingOn the same day as the kidnappings, a massive bombing by Boko Haram insurgents killed more than 75 commuters hundreds of miles south on the outskirts of the capital.

Girls do not belong to any human being.

Every woman deserves an education without sexual and physical abuse.

Human trafficking is the third largest illegal trafficking racket after drugs and arms trafficking.

What some girls and women have to endure to get that education is unthinkable.A father weeps as he joins other parents of the kidnapped schoolgirls in Chibok.

Being sold is one of the most grotesque examples of human trafficking.

“We must do everything to ensure that the abducted children are retrieved and rehabilitated and returned to their parents, and the military assuredNigeriamap us that they are working on it,” said Kayode Fayemi, of the southern, Christian-majority Ekiti state.

Every woman in the world who can should speak up now in solidarity.
